1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using ReefBuddy ("the App" or "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE

ReefBuddy is a mobile application that provides:

  • Water chemistry parameter tracking and logging
  • AI-powered analysis of water parameters with dosing recommendations
  • Livestock tracking and health monitoring
  • Historical data visualization and trends
  • Data export and backup capabilities

The App is designed for informational and educational purposes to assist saltwater aquarium hobbyists in maintaining their reef tanks.

3. ELIGIBILITY

You must be at least 13 years old to use ReefBuddy. By using the App, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least 13 years of age
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
  • You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • You will not use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose

4. FREE AND PAID SERVICES

4.1 Free Tier

ReefBuddy provides 3 free AI-powered water chemistry analyses per device. These free analyses:

  • Are provided as a one-time benefit per device
  • Do not expire
  • Cannot be transferred between devices
  • Are non-refundable

4.2 In-App Purchases

Additional analysis credits may be purchased through in-app purchases:

  • 5 Credits: $0.99 USD (or equivalent in local currency)
  • 50 Credits: $4.99 USD (or equivalent in local currency)

All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and subject to Apple's terms and conditions. Prices may vary by region.

4.3 Credit Terms

  • Credits are non-refundable except as required by law
  • Credits do not expire
  • Credits are tied to your device and cannot be transferred
  • Unused credits have no cash value

5. USER ACCOUNTS AND DATA

5.1 Account Creation

You may choose to create an account to sync your data across devices. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use

5.2 Your Data

You retain ownership of all data you input into the App. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to:

  • Store and process your data to provide the Service
  • Generate analysis and recommendations based on your data
  • Back up your data to prevent data loss

You are responsible for backing up your data. We are not liable for any loss of data.

6. ACCEPTABLE USE

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use the Service to transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Collect or harvest information about other users

7. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose
  • Accuracy, completeness, or reliability of analysis results
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Security or freedom from viruses or harmful components

IMPORTANT: ReefBuddy provides informational recommendations only. Water chemistry management involves risks. Always verify recommendations with multiple sources and consult with experienced aquarists or professionals when in doubt.

8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
  • Damage to livestock, equipment, or property
  • Personal injury or death resulting from use of recommendations
  • Any errors or omissions in analysis results

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater.

YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT AQUARIUM KEEPING INVOLVES INHERENT RISKS AND THAT YOU USE THE APP AND ITS RECOMMENDATIONS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

9. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The App, including its design, features, functionality, and content, is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
  • Remove any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
  • Use our trademarks or logos without permission
  • Redistribute or resell the App

10. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The App may integrate with or link to third-party services, including:

  • Apple App Store for in-app purchases
  • Cloud storage providers for data backup
  • Analytics services for app improvement

Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and conditions. We are not responsible for the practices or policies of third parties.

11. TERMINATION

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, with or without cause or notice, for any reason including:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Abuse of the Service
  • Extended periods of inactivity

Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease. You may delete your account and data at any time through the App settings.

12. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

12.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12.2 Dispute Resolution Process

For any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App:

  1. First, contact us at support@reefbuddy.app to attempt to resolve the dispute informally
  2. If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with applicable arbitration rules
  3. You waive any right to participate in a class-action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration

13. CHANGES TO THE SERVICE

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time
  • Change features, functionality, or pricing
  • Impose limits on usage or access
  • Update the App with new versions

We will provide reasonable notice of material changes that adversely affect your use of the Service.

14. SEVERABILITY

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

15. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
